This Nautillus air plant holder was initially sculpted from oil based clay. I then created a two part mould from silicone and Jesmonite of both the main shell and the ‘hood’. I then cast it out of PU resin. The ‘hood’ is removable (held on with a magnet) allowing the plant to be removed for watering. The stripes and shell were painted an airbrush and then sealed with a matt waterproof glaze. It is mounted on a brass rod fitted to an Iroko base.
